Female Filmmaker Line-up!
CHICAGO PREMIERE! 575 CASTRO STREET. Minnesota native Jenni Olson's quietly electrifying tribute to Harvey Milk focuses on his camera store at 575 Castro Street. The film's simple, elegant imagery provides a visual calm in which one acutely hears audio of Harvey, who recorded his thoughts in case he-like Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.-did not make it to the mountaintop. Official Selection, Sundance Film Festival.
FESTIVAL PREMIERE! RACE YOU. A visually stunning and poetic music video for breakout band Elizabeth and the Catapult that follows a young woman's journey to escape her past fears as she is led through a maze by her younger self to find her way home. Directed by Foundation Post Co-President/Creative Director Samantha Hart and Jennifer Moody.
FESTIVAL PREMIERE! A SHORT FILM. Urban legend comes to life in this comedic short. Directed and produced by Holly Todd, Sarah Schooley and Merje Veski. Shot on location at the Hideout Inn and based on a true story.
MIDWEST FESTIVAL PREMIERE! LOOK FOR ME. What would you do if you woke up one day and you were invisible? Official Selection, London International Film Festival. Director and Animator Laura Heit is a Minnesota native and received her BA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.
WORLD PREMIERE! BRING IT IN. It looks like a tough season for Coach Kelly Lesley at Pulaski Middle School. From a freak accident on his girls' basketball team to the never-ending obstacles in his personal life, this loveable-- yet lost-- Coach can't seem to catch a break. Directed, produced and co-written by Dina Facklis.
CHICAGO PREMIERE! WHIRLYBIRD. "Whirlybird" is a story based in magical realism and set in the open landscape of the Midwest. Moving between space and time, the film reveals itself as one remembers a dream...piece by piece, and never in a specific order. Written, directed and produced by Danielle Corches. Co-edited by Corches and Melissa Lawrenz.
WORLD PREMIERE! THE MISS. Quirky and melodic, this silent short film is a moment of flirtation and fate. Co-directed and produced by Sterling Rock Productions founder Grace McPhillips.
THE EGG TIMER. Written and directed by Minnesota filmmaker Emily Haddad ( pictured right ) , starring Stacia Rice with Emmy and Golden Globe nominee Linda Kelsey. "The Egg Timer" was made possible by the Fresh Filmmakers Grant, a program of IFP Minnesota.
CHICAGO PREMIERE! SKIN DEEP. Psychological horror film weaving special effects and production design into a haunting tale of hidden childhood memories. This short marks the directorial debut of Jessica Christopher of Joone Studios.
