Seattle-based singer/songwriter Matt Alber returns to Chicago May 25 for a live acoustic performance at Schuba's Tavern, 3159 North Southport Avenue, Chicago (corner of Belmont and Southport) starting at 8 p.m.
Always the champion for gay causes, Alber will be joined by the UCAN Foundation of Illinois to raise awareness about homeless LGBT youth. A portion of the ticket sales will benefit the organization who provides services and mentoring to over 13,000 youth and their families each year in Illinois .
"Over 2,000 youth sleep on the streets of Cook County every night and many of them are gay. I hope our concert can make things a little easier for them and remind us all to fight just as hard for these young ones as we do for our own equality."
Most known for his music video set in a 1960s barbershop (End Of The World), Alber's concerts draw a uniquely wide range of audiences. Alber is also a St. Louis- native and former member of the classical chamber ensemble Chanticleer with whom he recorded two Grammy® award-winning albums. Alber's concert will feature songs from his album Hide Nothing. Fans of Eva Cassidy, kd Lang and Elton John continue to find a new favorite at Alber's concerts. His full album streams for free at www.mattalber.com .
Seating is limited. Tickets are $8.00 in advance, $10.00 at the door and are available at www.schubas.com .
