Chicago trans activist/artist Jeannie Mutation is among the featured speakers at The October 22nd Coalition to Stop Police Brutality and Repression's 8th annual Day of Protest Wed., Oct. 22, noon, Federal Plaza (Adams and Dearborn). Among the gay-related sponsors of the mainstream event are Chicago Anti-Bashing Network, Queer to the Left and TransAction.
Cara Thaxton, Victim Advocacy Coordinator for the Center on Halsted/Horizons Community Services, has been named 'Court Advocate of the Year' by the Domestic Violence Task Force of the Cook County State's Attorney's Office. Thaxton, who has worked for the agency for one year, will receive the award at the Task Force's annual luncheon Oct. 21 at the Shedd Aquarium.
