Clinton AIDS Advisor Accused of Molestation
The Los Angeles Times reports that Dr. R. Scott Hitt, former chairman of Clinton's Presidential Advisory Council on AIDS and HIV, has been accused by California regulators of sexually molesting two male patients at a Beverly Hills medical office. "Hitt, the first openly gay person to head a presidential advisory body, acknowledged having touched one patient's genitalia in August 2000 and 'crossing a boundary."' the paper reported.
Both incidents were at the Pacific Oaks Medical Group in Beverly Hills. Hitt said one patient "started to come on" to him. Hitt acknowledged doing "things I regret" while under physical and psychological stress brought on by a battle with cancer.
Hosts Withdraw from Hispanic Event
Cristina Saralegui, host of Univision's El Show de Cristina, and John Quiñones, a correspondent for ABC's 20/20, have withdrawn as hosts for Hispanic Media 100's awards ceremony after becoming aware of defamatory anti-gay attacks by one of the honorees: Eladio José Armesto.
Armesto, publisher of El Nuevo Patria, was one of the leaders of Take Back Miami-Dade, a Christian Coalition-affiliated group that unsuccessfully attempted to overturn Miami's anti-discrimination ordinance. Armesto told the Miami Herald and others that gay men and lesbians are "multisexual extremists" and "perverts." El Nuevo Patria has also printed defamatory statements about gays.
