The Legacy Project will honor the late music superstars Freddie Mercury and Sylvester in a virtual event Sunday, Oct. 11, 3-5 p.m., featuring multimedia, historians, tribute performances and a ceremony revealing their bronze memorials at the Legacy Walk Outdoor LGBTQ History Museum in the Northalsted area of Chicago.
This online event will feature Broadway star Anthony Wayne ( star of Mighty Real: The Sylvester Musical ), Dr. Joshua Gamson ( Sylvester's biographer ), Lesley-Ann Jones ( author of Bohemian Rhapsody: The Definitive Biography of Freddie Mercury ) and Legacy Project co-founder Victor Salvo, among many others.
The Legacy Project aims to illuminate and affirm the lives of LGBTQ people to honor their experiences and accomplishments; to collect and preserve their contributions to world history and culture; to educate and inspire the public and young people; and to assure an inclusive and equitable future.
Part I will feature music, commentary and the live reveal. Part II ( the "after-party" ) will be a live talk-back and Q&A with special guests who will share inside information about the history-making achievements of Mercury and Sylvester.
A $25 ticket cost goes to support the Legacy Project's ongoing work to build the new LGBTQ-Inclusive Curriculum in Illinois. All contributions are 100% tax-deductible.
