More than 500 people attended Lambda Legal's 2022 Bon Foster Civil Rights Celebration on May 12.
The event took place at The Old Post Office, 433 W. Van Buren St.
The Bon Foster Civil Rights Celebration honors the memory of Robert Bonvoulior "Bon" Foster, the late civil-rights activist and attorney who was a powerful voice in Chicago in the early days of the HIV epidemic, opposing injustice and resisting discrimination. In 1993, a bequest from Foster's estate established Lambda Legal's Chicago-based Midwest regional office.
Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker was among the night's speakers.
Former Illinois state Sen. Heather Steans, Feeding America's Daniel Nisbet, Steans Family Foundation's Leo Smith and communications principal Terrence Chappell were the event co-chairs. |
