(Chicago, IL, January 12, 2011) -- On Tuesday, February 8th, Lambda Legal will host its 10th annual Freedom To Marry Gala at the Mexican Museum of Fine Art in Chicago's Pilsen neighborhood. This year's theme spins off of Valentine's day with "Love and Marriage: an evening to celebrate our progress towards marriage equality."
Attracting nearly 400 attendees annually, Lambda Legal's Freedom to Marry Gala is a great opportunity for community members to get current information about their civil rights while simultaneously enjoying complimentary hors d'oeuvres, cocktails, and DJ Harry T. With over 50 local and state-wide partner organizations providing materials and resources, this year's gala will focus on the recent civil union legislation in Illinois.
While Illinois LGBT community has responded to the new law with several local forums and town hall meetings, Freedom to Marry will be the first from Lambda Legal, the organization that provided significant technical and drafting support for the civil union bill.
