The Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation ( GLAAD ) is asking people to join calls for the Spanish-language talk show José Luis Sin Censura to stop using anti-gay terms and apologize to viewers, a press release announced. Audience members chanted the anti-gay terms "maricÃ"n" and "puñal" on the June 8 segment of the program; audience members then chanted another such term June 10. Lady Gaga is not barred from the New York Yankees locker room. According to CBSSports.com, the "Alejandro" singer got past security and visited the Yankees clubhouse after the team lost to the New York Mets June 18—and it's a no-no to visit the Yankees after they lose a home game. Yankees co-chair Hal Steinbenner reportedly banned Gaga after finding out what she did, but General Manager Brian Cashman said that the singer is fine to visit—after a win.
Speaking of Gaga, comedian Jerry Seinfeld is not her biggest fan. He called her "a jerk" after the singer attended a New York Mets game clearly showing her bra and panties—and then she proceeded to give fans the finger. As a guest commentator for another Mets game, Seinfeld said, "I'm very protective of my Met fans. I love my Met fans and I did not like ... the finger. It was disrespectful."
Singer/songwriter Vanessa Carlton—best known for her breezy pop hit "A Thousand Miles" from her debut album, Be Not Nobody—came out as bisexual at the Nashville Pride Festival June 19, according to the New York Daily News. Carlton, 29, told the crowd of approximately 18,000 that "I've never said this before, but I am a proud bisexual woman." She had been previously tied to Third Eye Blind lead singer Stephan Jenkins and musician John Mayer.
BET Networks has acquired gay favorite The Wendy Williams Show for a second season in the United States this fall, and will air the program on its international networks in the United Kingdom, Africa and the Middle East in 54 countries starting in July, according to PRNewswire. BET Networks' Barbara Zaneri said, "We ... believe Wendy's universal appeal will translate to all corners of the world, making her a key player for BET's international networks."
Controversial writer Ramin Seetoodeh, who penned a Newsweek piece criticizing openly gay actors ( such as Jonathan Groff and Sean Hayes ) who take on straight roles, has left the publication for a senior-writer position at People Magazine, according to Advocate.com . At his new post, Seetoodeh, who is himself openly gay, will write news and human-interest articles.
The vampires, shape-shifters and other creatures on HBO's pansexual hit True Blood will do the monster mash for another year as the show has been renewed for a fourth season, according to CNN. Production on the new season will start in early 2011, and will run next summer. The third season is currently running on Sundays.
Gioia Bruno, a bisexual singer who was one-third of the female pop group Exposé, has been charged with trafficking methamphetamines, according to Advocate.com . Bruno, 47, was apparently arrested in April 2009 in Florida, and was placed on probation for five years. Among Exposé's hits are "Seasons Change," "Let Me Be the One" and "Come Go With Me."
Out actor Neil Patrick Harris is set to return in the third Harold and Kumar film, according to Hollywood.com . Leads John Cho and Kal Penn will return for A Very Harold & Kumar Christmas. Harris plays the womanizing Barney on TV's How I Met Your Mother and is filming the big-screen feature The Smurfs.
Jersey Shore regulars Ronnie Ortiz-Magro, Vinny Gaudagnino and Mike "The Situation" Sorrentino are on the cover of The Village Voice's Queer Issue, according to Advocate.com . However, the trio reportedly did not know how their pictures would be used. The publication hit newsstands June 23 with "The Queer Issue" at the top, with the headline "The Guido Ideal," a story about "gay Jersey guidos on the down low." Sorrentino responded on his Facebook page, "it's not for me to judge somebody's sexual preference and in my opinion the SitUaTIoN looks good as hell and that is my main concern."
Singer Amy Winehouse is again in the news—but, this time, it's because of her cab-driving father, Mitch. According to Reuters, Mitch is debuting a jazz album, Rush of Love, that consists mostly of covers. The elder Winehouse said, "May be I'm giving a big up to the geriatrics of the world. Never too late." He also talked about Amy—who has had legal and drug problems—saying she is "much better."

Hughley and regular panelist Sherri Shepherd reportedly perpetuated "dangerous myths," according to Advocate.com . On the June 22 episode of the show the panel discussed the current blood-donation ban regarding gay and bisexual men as well as the prevalence of HIV among African-American women. Hughley and Shepherd talked about men on the "down low" and Shepherd blamed the high HIV rate on women "having unprotected sex with men who have been having sex ... with men." Singer Miley Cyrus dedicated the song "My Heart Beats for Love" to her gay fans while performing at Los Angeles' House of Blues June 21, On Top Magazine reported. While dedicating the song, she added, "Everyone has the right to love each other and no one should feel discriminated or judged for that." During the show, Cyrus, 17, again pretended to passionately kiss a female dancer—a movie that stunned viewers of the show Britain's Got Talent when she first did it.
Josh Kilmer-Purcell and Dr. Brent Ridge—the gay couple featured in the Green Planet reality-TV show The Fabulous Beekman Boys—say that their neighbors treat them fine, according to On Top Magazine. The show follows the city-bred couple as they live on a self-sustaining organic farm. Of his conservative neighbors, Kilmer-Purcell said, "We've had actual complete acceptance. A neighbor's a neighbor's a neighbor."
The Big C—Showtime's upcoming series that stars Laura Linney as Cathy, a teacher who has cancer—will soon sport another accomplished actress: out actress Cynthia Nixon. According to Advocate.com, Nixon will portray Rebecca's college roommate, Rebecca, over an arc of four episodes. Gabourey Sidibe, Brian Cox and Oliver Platt will co-star on the show, which will debut Aug. 16.
