LGBTQIA+ tavern to open in Uptown this fall

2Bears Tavern Group—which owns and operates Andersonville's The SoFo Tap and Meeting House Tavern as well as Rogers Park's Jackhammer—is opening 2Bears Tavern Uptown in the former Nick's on Wilson space at 1140 W. Wilson Ave.

Located on the first floor of the FLATS' "Bachelor" residential building, this LGBTQIA+ tavern will open in the fall and boast pinball, darts, seven TVs, eight rotating drafts, will be dog-friendly and have a late-night tavern license.

After owners Mark Robertson and Mike Sullivan opened Meeting House Tavern in the South of Foster (SoFo) section of Andersonville in summer 2018 and acquired the nearly shuttered Jackhammer in the fall of the same year, they turned their sights toward the Wilson/Broadway area of Uptown for their next tavern.

"This area is booming," said 2Bears Tavern Group President Mark Robertson in a statement. "With a first-rate CTA station, Truman College, and more than 1,000 residential units coming to the area in the next 18—24 months, it is a great place for a neighborhood LGBTQIA+ tavern." The Uptown area has several new retail and entertainment projects, including the Baton Lounge, Double Door, and Chicago Market—a cooperative grocery—joining various retail and dining options along Wilson Avenue.

As with all 2Bears Tavern Group locations, 2Bears Tavern Uptown will feature everyday and daily specials, house shots and classic cocktails, with a focus on value. It will also offer a selection of CBD-based beverages. Customers will also be welcome to bring in food or order it for delivery.
