Kindred Hearts has moved to St. James Presbyterian Church, 6554 N. Rockwell, Chicago, 60656. The agency has been based in north suburban Evanston for more than 20 years.
The new home is at the corner of Rockwell and Albion in West Rogers Park. 'We invite you to celebrate this transition with us,' the group stated in a press release. 'Kindred Hearts has been serving the womyn's community since 1982. We provide a lesbian, bisexual, feminist-based gathering place where all women are welcome. We offer peer support groups, educational programs, and social activities to empower women, to promote dialogue and to provide a sense of community.'
A sampling of what they offer includes a coming-out support group, a coming-out-of-a marriage group, a lesbian/bisexual mom's group, an issue-based discussion group, a book group, a lesbian/feminist library, open chat-groups, and a variety of other activities.
Originally known as KinHeart and located in Evanston at the Wheadon Methodist Church, the organization has evolved from a social-service agency into an all-volunteer, social and peer-support center, relying solely on member involvement to initiate and sustain activities.
'We are excited about the opportunity to continue our mission in a welcoming and supportive environment,' they said. 'Memberships and donations are our only source of funding.'

In celebration of their new space, they will host an Open House Saturday, Sept. 18, 5-7 p.m. and their Homecoming Dance Saturday, Oct. 9 at 7:30. Both are free.
