Indy Pride, Indianapolis' largest LGBTQ celebration, will be virtual again for a second consecutive year as event holders say it's "not reasonable to plan and host an in-person festival during Pride Month at this time," IndyStar.com reported.
There will be a livestreamed concert, virtual vendor tour and Zoom meet-ups with other Pride attendees.
Festival leaders tweeted that the country is in a critical stage of the pandemic as vaccines become more available.
Even though anyone in Indiana who is older than 16 can get vaccinated, Indy Pride directors said the health risks still outweigh the benefit of hosting the event, which drew more than 55,000 attendees in 2019.
The virtual event begins June 12 at indypride.org/indy-pride-festival .
