On Saturday, April 15, at 11 a.m., thousands of Illinois residents will gather at Daley Plaza in Chicago for a rally as part of a nationwide Tax March to demand President Trump's tax returns. Citizens in cities throughout the world will march and rally in support of the urgency with which Trump must make those documents available for citizen review.
As the first president in 40 years to refuse to make his returns public, Trump "has left us in the dark about his personal financial connections to the economy he governs. During the campaign he promised to release his returns and his failure to do so evades basic transparency and accountability. And the American people are not buying it— an ABC/Washington Post poll found that 74 percent of those asked want the president to release his taxes and for public review, including half of his voters," organizers stated.
"Unless we know the extent of Trump's financial holdings and obligations, Americans will be unable to determine if he's making decisions to benefit the country or himself."
Trump's taxes could reveal:
Potential nefarious sources of wealth including the Russian and Chinese governments and Saudi Royal Family
If he is cheating on his taxes; and
The actual size of his fortune.
Taxes show sources of income, payments of interest, loaned money and infusions of cash. A skilled tax lawyer would be able to quickly determine the extent of the president's holdings, debts and financial entanglements.
Organizers stated: "If any of these numbers do not add up, he could be prosecuted for tax fraud! Like murder, tax fraud is one of the few crimes for which there is no statute of limitations."
The Daley Plaza rally will includes speeches by U.S. Rep. Jan Schakowky, U.S. Rep. Mike Quigley, and Rev. Jesse Jackson Sr. After the rally, participants will march to Wacker Drive, across from Trump Plaza in a sign of unification. There will be three inflatable Chicken Don's. Recently, Chicago Chicken Don flew the coop and landed in the Loop across Trump Tower, and the resulting Facebook live video has gone viral and been seen by more than 33,000 people. The entire event should be over by 2:30 p.m.
