(Chicago). On Sunday, Oct. 9, from 1 -4 p.m., actress and comedienne Jane Lynch will be reading from and autographing her new memoir, Happy Accidents (24.99 Hyperion), at Women & Children First bookstore (5233 N. Clark St., Chicago, 1-773-769-9299). This is a ticketed event; books must be purchased at Women & Children First bookstore to receive a ticket to attend the booksigning. Bookstore capacity for the reading is sold-out.
No actress in Hollywood is as hot as Jane Lynch right now. With an Emmy, a Golden Globe, and a People's Choice under her belt for her scathing portrayal of everyone's favorite high school track-suit-dinning-dictator on Fox's GLEE, Lynch is on top of the world. Adding to the accolades, this Sunday, September 18, Lynch will host the Primetime Emmy Awards, becoming only the third woman to host the Emmys solo in the show's history.
As readers of her memoir, Happy Accidents, will learn, Lynch's rise hardly happened overnight. In fact, she didn't make it big until her 40s, and even then it was only after she battled alcoholism and anxiety, learned to embrace her sexuality, and accepted that life is sometimes a series of opportunities that come after what seem, at the time, like disappointments.
Happy Accidents is part comic-memoir of behind-the scenes-Hollywood and part inspirational narrative about self-acceptance. Often funny and poignant, and sometimes brutally honest, Lynch turns an unflinching eye on her struggles to become comfortable in her own skin and allow others to love her.
Women & Children First Bookstore is an independent, feminist bookstore serving Chicago's literary community for more than 30 years. Located in Chicago's Andersonville neighborhood, they are accessible by the #22 Clark Street bus, and the Red Line "Berwyn" stop. There is limited free parking available behind the store. |
