Illinois House Majority Leader Greg Harris was presented the Outstanding Leadership Award at the recent Illinois Health and Hospital Association's (IHA) Leadership Summit in Lombard.
Harris, who is retiring from the General Assembly, was recognized for his unwavering commitment to advance healthcare in Illinois.
Harris also led a session at the IHA Leadership Summit entitled "Reflections on Illinois Health Policy: A Conversation with House Majority Leader Greg Harris" to share his perspective on the state of healthcare policy in Illinois. During the session, he addressed the critically important issue of Medicaid policy, reflected on some of his most significant achievements, and offered his thoughts on the future of healthcare policy in Illinois.
As the key architect of Illinois' marriage-equality law, Leader Harris is widely respected for his leadership on marriage equality. He is also recognized as budget expert and lead budget negotiator, as well as for his work on policy, targeting mental health and substance abuse, accessible healthcare, at-risk youth, comprehensive breast care services, transgender rights and violence prevention.
