Macy's presented its annual Glamorama event this year, moving from the usual Chicago Theatre location to the Harris Theater of Music and Dance. The theme this time was British Invasion: The Music Then, The Fashion Now! Ronald McDonald House was featured for the benefit once again.
The show began with iHeart Radio Star contest winners Megan and Liz, two fraternal twin sisters who performed an acoustic song. Models then walked the runway to the tunes of The Beatles and other English acts, both new and old. (The theme of the event was "British Invasion.")
Jean Paul Gaultier's creations became a highlight for many, with a multitextural collection complete with long leather gloves and capes. Material Girl gave something to the younger generation with a show that finished with jump ropes and break-dancing.
Marc Jacobs surprised many with his large hats made of faux fur. Donna Karan then showed clothes that revealed low cleavage and still managed to be conservative at the same time.
Diesel came right after with a bright British set and models who brought the goods with a Magic Mike moment that had ladies in the audience hooting and hollering. Benny Hill-type music ended the set as an elderly lady chased the models around the stage, trying to pinch them.
Entertainment headliner Robin Thicke sang three tracks, really working the crowd to a big finish; he later attended the after-party. Pop duo Karmin sang three songs, with lead singer Amy Heidemann enchanting the crowd. The previously mentioned after-party was packed and complete with 18 stocked bars, food stations and photo booths.
