GOODBYE ANDREW ...
We were so sorry to see gay cheerleader Andrew and his father Dennis eliminated from THE AMAZING RACE 3 last week. Although Andrew could be a little annoying at times ( like when he rode a donkey cart in Mexico and yelled out, "Ben Hur's got nothing on this!" ) , there was something touching about seeing Andrew and his conservative Southern Baptist father Dennis undertaking a globe-trotting competition as a way of overcoming their differences.
"The fact that I'm gay, I think, has always been a problem in our relationship," Andrew said. "But now, racing around the world together, I think he really has realized Andrew is pretty tough--he can take care of himself."
After learning that they had been eliminated, Andrew's father Dennis said, "Buddy, you know I love you, and I'm so glad you came to me that night and said, 'Dad, we've gotta do this race.' And we've done it. We made the race. And gosh, if you ever come up with another adventure, remember dear old Dad. I'm game!"
