Frontrunners/Frontwalkers Chicago will once again staff its award-winning water station for The LaSalle Bank Chicago Marathon Sunday, Oct. 9, on Broadway at Melrose.
The station will have more than 200 volunteers, some of whom will be festively costumed for this year's theme which is 'Hairspray.'
Broadway will be a festival of entertainment, with the Lakeside Freedom Band performing at Broadway and Addison, the R.O.T.C. at Broadway and Aldine, and Frontrunners in full force at its water station, which will stretch nearly 2 city blocks. The male cheerleaders and go-go dancers will be in top form.
An estimated 40,000 runners are registered to run. This is one of the largest and fastest marathons in the world. Runners from more than 80 countries will participate.
Spectators are encouraged to come out and cheer. First runners will pass through the water station at approximately 8:30 a.m.
