WHAT: Chicago Department of Public Health (CDPH) commemorates World AIDS day by kicking off a city-wide condom distribution effort by giving away 20,000 FREE condoms at the following CTA stops during the morning rush:
- Howard Street (Redline) **Media Availability with Commissioner Bechara Choucair M.D. at Howard St. from 8:00 a.m. - 9:00 a.m.
- 95th Street (Redline)
- Logan Square (blueline)
- Austin (green line)
- Lake Street- Thompson Center (all lines)
WHY:
CDPH is launching a city-wide free condom distribution effort aimed at making condoms available and accessible with the goal of preventing HIV. The effort is being kicked off on World AIDS Day with the offering of free condoms to commuters during the morning rush. Commuters will receive a World AIDS day commemoration card along with both male and female condoms. Through the program, CDPH has committed to distributing 10 million free condoms in 2012 through community based organizations and partners.
World AIDS Day is dedicated to educating and motivating people around the world about HIV and AIDS.
