Hosted by Kat Fitzgerald, Wednesdays in October, except Oct 13th.

Join us Wednesday, October 6th, 20th and 27th as Four Women Showcase will be celebrating its 2 Year birthday party! Yes," Four Women" is 2 years old this month!! Can you believe it?

Doors open: 6:30 p.m. Show time: 7-9 p.m. ( no cover ) This continuing monthly showcase features female singer/songwriters from all over, including touring artists and local Chicago-based performers. Find Four Women at Mary's Attic, 5400 N. Clark, Chicago, IL, ( 773 ) 784-6969 ( www.hamburgermaryschicago.com ) , a place where the food and fun can always be found and now live music has been launched.

"Four Women Showcase " — the music series which began in September of 2008 is continuing to help bring music from female singer/songwriters to the music loving Chicago fans. Oh and in case you are wondering why last month was not the 2 year birthday party, the answer is simple - we skipped a month this year. ;- )

It all started with a dream, to promote female singer/songwriters and bring their talents to the forefront of the performance stage. Taking nothing away from all the amazing talent of male and female artists out there, sometimes it can be a little harder on the women, so I wanted to find a way to give them an outlet and a special way to share their music. We may not be the biggest show around, but I know, in my heart, I will not give up on this passion - which is exactly what it is.

It all started with a dream, to promote female singer/songwriters and bring their talents to the forefront of the performance stage. Sometimes it can be a little harder on female singer/songwriters finding outlets and a way to share their music. This may not be the biggest show around, but this show is a passion that will continue to grow and thrive in the Chicago music scene.

So many amazing artists have been a part of this series, and that is the excitement of the performances this month. Each week we will bring a new group of ladies to the stage in a slightly more crazed and exciting version of the regular show - sometimes 5, 6, 7 or even 8 performers may be gracing the stage. All of the past performers have been invited to perform, and as many as we can fit will be up on the stage. As the focus of the series has always been new female artists, don't worry, there will be new artists in the mix.

We really don't know what to expect this month - it is exciting, and a bit nerve wracking too! Having so much fabulous talent on a stage in just 2 hours, and all for no cover - you can't go wrong with a show like this!

Come out and enjoy the music, the performers, the drinks, and who knows, there might even be birthday ( cup ) cakes and other fabulous surprises. I can't tell you when your favorite past performers will grace the stage, so you will just have to come each week to find out!

HOST KAT FITZGERALD

Host, Kat Fitzgerald, is a drummer with the Chicago-based band, "Left Turn At Albuquerque" and hosts the Open Mic each Monday at Uptown Lounge. Kat brings the same passion to percussion that she brings to life. Playing the Cajon, Djembe, Bongos or Kat's Kit that includes her "baby", she is most in her element providing the heartbeat of the band. Kat is often invited to play with musicians around Chicago and is highly in demand as a skilled percussionist. Besides playing in LTAA, Kat works the sound, and supports emerging musical talent with added focus on women getting their start in performing.

By day, Kat's job as a Computer Specialist allows her to support her shoe collection. She may be the only drummer in Chicago to always play in 4" heels. Among Kat's many influences are Tower of Power and jazz musicians. Love of music is evident in all that she does in her life and supporting the local music scene. Kat is also a sought after photographer and enjoys photographing musicians and events many times donating her services. Check out Mystic Images Photography to see her many amazing photographs.

"Left Turn at Albuquerque is lucky to snare her talents as they embark on this musical adventure, trying to find their way while being chased by Elmer Fudd."

--Jeff Churchwell, leader of LTAA

Don't miss the next show! Stop by Mary's Attic and "Four Women Showcase" on most Wednesdays ( please note, there is no show on October 13 due to another event. It will be an evening filled with lots of original music collaboration and a chance to meet some of the women who are strong players in the music industry today.
