The Chicago Force let a halftime lead slip away June 12, and so ended one of the most promising seasons in team history.
The Force led the Dallas Diamonds 13-12 at halftime of the Midwest Division Championship Game of the Independent Women's Football League ( IWFL ) playoffs, held at the Birdville Fine Arts and Athletic Complex in North Richland Hills, Texas.
However, the Diamonds won 27-20.
The Force finished 7-2, with losses in their final regular-season game ( at the Kansas City Tribe ) and against the Diamonds.
"We fought hard and played well," said Chicago quarterback Sami Grisafe. "We made mistakes, but there also were other things that were out of our control that colored the game and, unfortunately, those things out-weighed the things that were in our control."
Chicago scored its three touchdowns on passes from Grisafeto Jeanette Gray, Patricia Harper and Kim Marks.
"As every season ends, a new one begins and we will have the same high expectations of our team next year," Grisafe said. "Anyone who wants to be a part of the Force is more than welcome to join."
