It was a 1-yard run by Chicago Force quarterback Sami Grisafe that kept the club perfect on the 2010 season.
Grisafe rushed home Saturday, May 22, from the 1 yard-line with seven minutes remaining in the third quarter for the only points of the game as the Force defeated the Pittsburgh Passion, 7-0, at Winnemac Stadium on the campus of Amundson High School.
The Force moves to 7-0 with one regular-season game remaining ( June 5 at the Kansas City Tribe ) , while the Passion drops to 4-3 as it has now lost three of its last four games. The Force has five shutouts this season, including its last three games, and has outscored opponents 260-19.
"A win is a win," said Grisafe, holding her Offensive MVP Trophy, sponsored and presented by Spin Nightclub owner David Gassman. Candace Griffin ( two interceptions ) and Veronica Hernandez earned co-Defensive MVP honors. "The good thing is, we have not yet peaked. We still have a lot of room to get better."
"We did a lot of stuff to ourselves to prevent us from scoring [ more ] ," Grisafe said. "Now it's just a matter of ironing out the kinks."
