Sami Grisafe had her best game of the season May 15, leading the Chicago Force to a 49-0 victory over the Wisconsin Wolves in a game played in Madison, Wis.
Grisafe completed 26 of 37 passes with five touchdown passes, helping Chicago move its record to 6-0.
"This was a great game for us," said Chicago general manager Linda Bache. "Our defense continues to play well and our offense was firing on all cylinders. Sami and all four receivers ( Trish Harper, Taylor Malloy, Dana Vermilye and Jeanette Gray ) played extremely well. It's nice to build momentum at this point in the season. Hopefully we'll continue to improve, qualify for the playoffs and hit our peak at the right time."
"We're now just one step closer to our overall goalgetting that championship ring on our fingers," Grisafe said. "We are getting better every day and are ready to take care of the next opponent in our way."
In the second half, Chicago featured the offensive debut of rookie running back Dorian Bridges, who carried seven times for 61 yards. The Force offense ran for 200 yards, with Bridges, Cat Converse ( 11 carries, 72 yards, two TDs ) and rookie Brandy Hatcher ( eight carries, 33 yards ) doing most of the work. Rookie receivers Malloy, Vermilye and Jeanette Gray all had breakout games.
Veteran wide receiver Harper had six receptions for 96 yards and two TDs; tight end Kim Marks also had a TD reception.
Overall, the Force's offense had 489 total yards.
"We need to beat Pittsburgh this Saturday, May 22, in our final regular season home game," Bache said. "Pittsburgh is a very good team, but they're beatable and I'm confident if we play our game we'll come out of it with a win. It's going to be very physical; there will be blood on the field, but that's why we have ice bags, trainers and team doctors.
"We'll have many former Force players on hand to support us as this Saturday is Alumni Day. We'll recognize former players and coaches in a halftime ceremony. We'll also have a special performance by the Chicago Spirit Brigade's dance team in honor and support of The Kay Yow/WBCA Cancer Fund. In collaboration with NIKE, the Chicago Force and other IWFL teams will don pink NIKE Kay Yow/WBCA Cancer Fund wristbands in a league-wide show of support for the cause."
