Ferris named Gay Games ambassador

Australian Michelle Ferris—one of cycling's all-time sprint stars, with multiple world and Olympic medals to her credit—has been selected by the Federation of Gay Games ( FGG ) to be the newest Gay Games ambassador, according to an organizational press release.
Ambassadors are prominent individuals who support the Gay Games. Ferris now joins a roster that includes, among others, Sir Elton John; former National Basketball Association player John Amaechi; South African Olympic beach volleyball player Leigh-Ann Naidoo; former National Football League players David Kopay and Esera Tuaolo; and actors Judith Light and Amanda Bearse.
Gay Games VIII will take place July 31-Aug. 7, 2010.
