Ex-Colts player accused of attacking son and his boyfriend

Former Indianapolis Colts lineman and radio personality Joseph "Joe" Andrew Staysniak was arrested on Feb. 21 after a domestic incident in which he was accused of assaulting his son and choking his son's boyfriend in the ex-athlete's home in Brownsburg, Indiana, NBC News reported.

He was released later in the day on his own recognizance, according to Hendricks County Jail records.

Staysniak's son told police that a neighbor saw him sitting in a car in front of the property with his boyfriend. Staysniak then allegedly approached, opened the rear passenger door and "grabbed [the boyfriend's] hood and was choking him," an affidavit stated. The boyfriend in the vehicle said Joe Staysniak "flashed a gun" and "had it against the side of his face at one point during the incident."

Staysniak—charged in Hendricks County Court with strangulation and two counts of battery resulting in bodily injury—denied hitting the boyfriend and said that his son "came after him," according to the affidavit.

A pretrial conference has been scheduled for April 10 and a jury trial for April 25.
