Scott Schweickert, a former Lakeview resident, has implicated another man, Steven Lorenzo, in the unsolved killings of two Tampa, Fla.-area gay men, according to 365Gay.com .
Schweickert, 39, was arrested in May on charges of being an accessory after the fact in a drug-facilitated crime of violence. Shortly after his arrest he admitted to police in a written statement that he could help solve the mystery of who killed two men, Michael Wachholtz and Jason Galehouse. Schweickert alleged that Lorenzo drugged, raped, dismembered and disposed of the men's bodies with his help.
Lorenzo, who was accused of plying gay men with the drug GHB and then brutally sexually assaulting them, has been found guilty of nine charges of administering the drug and one count of distributing it. Seven of Lorenzo's victims testified at the trial. All of them told jurors that they met Lorenzo in bars—six of them in Tampa—and had gone home with him. When they woke up, they testified, they were bound and in pain from having been tortured and raped. The St. Petersburg Times reported that it took jurors just three hours to find Lorenzo guilty. Lorenzo will be sentenced on Jan. 27; he could get up to 200 years—20 years for each charge.
