CHICAGO — Equality Illinois' Dining Out for Equality is Thursday, October 10 this year, only 12 days before the Illinois House is set to reconvene for its fall veto session, during which we are urging a vote on the freedom to marry.
Participants of Dining Out for Equality will dine and/or drink at LGBT-supportive restaurants, and a significant portion of the bills will be donated to Equality Illinois, the state's oldest and largest advocacy organization for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender Illinoisans. This year, with the legislature returning to Springfield and the critical marriage vote looming, the proceeds will help fund our efforts to pass the bill.
"With the fight continuing for the freedom to marry, we are proud to have so many local restaurants supporting LGBT equality," said Michael Nordman, Equality Illinois Director of Development. "They realize like many other business leaders across the state that full equality is good for business."
This is the fifth anniversary of Dining Out for Equality, which allows diners to enjoy a great meal all while supporting a great cause.
Diners are encouraged to make reservations, as the participating restaurants are often quite busy on Dining Out for Equality night. Please mention Dining Out for Equality when making the reservation and again at the restaurant.
The list of participating restaurants is still growing, and updates can be found on our Facebook page: http://tinyurl.com/EQIL2013DiningOut.
