Election tributes at Ida B. Wells grave in Chicago

While hundreds are putting stickers and tributes on the grave of Susan B. Anthony, rightfully so, here in Chicago, there is one of the most significant women in U.S. history, Ida B. Wells, buried at Oak Wood Cemetery, 1035 East 67th Street.
Windy City Times staffers Jean Albright and Tracy Baim Jean went to the grave of Wells on election day to place their voting docs on her gravestone. Just a few others had placed tributes there as of 3:30 p.m.
A bit from her bio on Wikipedia: Wells ( 1862—1931 ) was an African-American journalist, newspaper editor, suffragist, sociologist, feminist and an early leader in the civil-rights movement. She was one of the founders of the NAACP in 1909. Born into slavery in Mississippi, Wells lost her parents and a sibling in the 1878 yellow fever epidemic at a young age. Wells documented lynching in the United States in the 1890s, showing that it was often used in the South as a way to control or punish Black people who competed with whites, rather than being based on criminal acts by black people, as was usually claimed by whites. She was active in women's rights and the women's suffrage movement, establishing several notable women's organizations. Wells was a skilled and persuasive rhetorician and traveled internationally on lecture tours.
