In the 1980s, Joan Collins and Linda Evans sent television ratings soaring as glamorous rivals Alexis and Krystal Carrington, respectively, on the nighttime serial Dynasty. Now they have reunited on stage for a new version of the comedy Legends!, coming to the LaSalle Bank Theatre, 18 W. Monroe, in a limited two-week engagementon Feb. 20-March 4.
Written by Tony Award-winning author James Kirkwood ( A Chorus Line ) , Legends! centers on two fading and somewhat desperate movie stars, Sylvia ( Joan Collins ) and Leatrice ( Linda Evans ) . Both actresses are courted by an unscrupulous young producer to star together in a new Broadway show, despite the fact that they have hated each other for decades. He convinces both ladies to go along by misleading them into believing they will be
starring alongside Paul Newman. This set-up provides the background for the full-blown confrontation between these two divas—and a surprising resolution.
Legends! was originally produced in 1986 and starred Carol Channing and Mary Martin.
Tickets are from $20-$75 and are available at Broadway In Chicago Box Offices ( 18 W. Monroe, 24 W. Randolph and 151 W. Randolph ) , through the Broadway In Chicago Ticket Line at 312-902-1400; at all Ticketmaster ticket centers ( including all Carson Pirie Scott stores, Tower Records, Hot Tix, select Coconuts and fye stores; or online at www.ticketmaster.com .
