—Brokeback Mountain [ on Blu-Ray ] ( March 10; $29.98 ) : The 2005 movie that stars Jake Gyllenhaal and the late, great Heath Ledger ( pictured ) is now out on Blu-Ray. As most people know, the Ang Lee-directed film about two cowboys in love with each other was adapted from the short story of the same name by Annie Proulx. Extras will match the previous HD-DVD and DVD special editions, with a ton of featurettes, including "A Groundbreaking Success," "Music From the Mountain" and "On Being a Cowboy." The Blu-ray will also come BD-Live-enabled ( allowing the Internet to extend the movie-viewing experience through downloaded content and advanced interactivity ) and with the My Scenes bookmarking feature.
—Greek: Season Two ( already out; $29.99 ) : The continuation of the excellent ABC Family series set on the fictional Cyprus-Rhodes University campus covers the time from January through spring break. Although there is a love triangle between two guys a girl at the center, one of the strongest supporting characters is Calvin ( played by Paul James ) , the Black gay student who comes out to fraternity ( and sorority ) row.
—The Inauguration of Barack Obama: A Moment in History ( ABC News ) ( March 3; $14.98 ) : Relive the crowds, the new president's articulate speech—and Aretha's hat—in this release that focuses on the historic events of Jan. 20. Exclusive special features include Barbara Walters exclusive November 2008 interview with the Obamas, and even an interview with Beyoncé, who performed "At Last" at the inauguration's Neighborhood Ball.
—Little Fish ( already out; $9.98 ) : This 2005 Australian gem ( hardly seen in the United States ) about family, deception and drugs stars Cate Blanchett has a woman trying to make progress, despite ( or perhaps because ) of her past as an addict. Sam Neill ( of Jurassic Park ) co-stars as a gay drug dealer and Hugo Weaving ( The Matrix series ) is Blanchett's former stepfather, an addict who shares a brief kissing scene with Neill. Did I mention there were drugs in this movie? Also, for '80s fanatics, Dustin Nguyen ( of TV's 21 Jump Street ) plays a pivotal role as Blanchett's ex, Johnny.
—Out at the Wedding ( pictured, already out; $24.99 ) : Although this film made its broadcast premiere on TV's LOGO channel on Feb. 15, it is out on DVD. Out at the Wedding—which stars Mink Stole and Mike Farrell ( of TV's M*A*S*H and Providence ) , among others—is a rom-com about coming out, love and little white lies. The special features include cast interviews and an interview with director Lee Friedlander.
—Quantum of Solace ( March 24; $29.98 ) : Ah, Daniel Craig: What more can we ask for? The movie picks up minutes after the end of the previous film, Casino Royale, and James Bond is out for blood. Extras include the "Another Way to Die" music video ( with Alicia Keys and Jack White ) and theatrical trailers. A special-edition DVD—with several featurettes—will be released the same day for $34.98.
—Red Is the Color of... ( already out; $29.95 ) : "The tense marriage between two artists is disrupted when the husband's provocative nude [ female ] model ignites his wife's sexual and spiritual awakening." With a product description like that in this foreign lesbian drama, how can one go wrong?
—Schoolboy Crush ( already out; $19.99 ) : A teacher hires a teen escort for one night—and guess who turns out to be the new student at the all-male school? This Japanese movie has been described as a mash-up of several U.S. movies, including Cruel Intentions, because it incorporates everything from obsession to sexual intrigue.
—The Starter Wife: Season One ( March 10; $34.98 ) : Debra Messing moved from Will & Grace to this dramedy series ( which just concluded its second and final season ) . The two-DVD set includes all 10 episodes of the first season ( such as "Das Booty Call" ) —and how can anyone resist the special feature "Fantasy Sequences with Commentary?" Also, keep an eye out for the title character's gay friend, Rodney, played by Chris Diamantopoulos—who, in real life, is married to Becki Newton of TV's Ugly Betty. The gay references just keep coming...
—The Tudors—The Complete Second Season ( already out; $40.99 ) : This four-disc set continues the intrigue- and sex-filled ways that characterized the first season—a stylized view of Henry VIII's life. Among the actors featured are Jonathan Rhys-Meyers, Natalie Dormer, Jeremy Northam and the legendary Peter O'Toole. Extras include two featurettes: "Tower of London" and "Descendants of Henry," and the season two premieres of Showtime's Californication and the Emmy-nominated series This American Life.
—Watchmen: The Complete Motion Comic ( March 3; $29.98 ) : Just before the eagerly anticipated movie Watchmen is released in March, this DVD will be out. Watchmen illustrator Dave Gibbons oversaw the production of this digital version of the graphic novel that adds limited motion, voice and sound to the book's iconic panels. All 12 chapters of the story are here, makin up almost five hours—but fanboys and girls will likely be transfixed during every single minute.
—Wonder Woman 2009 ( March 3; $19.98 ) : Thousands of gay men and women followed the Amazon princess when Lynda Carter played her, and the love affair will likely continue with this 74-minute animated story. Actress Keri Russell ( best known for starring in TV's Felicity ) voices the title character as she, as Princess Diana, encounters Steve Trevor on the secluded Island Themyscira. There are three Hynde versions that will be released: Blu-Ray, single-disc DVD and double-disc DVD.
—Andrew Davis
