Dance Union continues its first Music & Dance Improvisation series at Hamlin Park

Fieldhouse Theater. Music & Dance Improvisation may be nothing new when we think of the

history of spontaneous collaboration between music and dance all over the world since ancient

time. However, there is a meaning when the contemporary human body moves with

contemporary improvisation music. If music improvisation can create sound which is not called music, dance improvisation also must be able to create movement which extends beyond the term dance.

This series hopes to create space/experience for artists and viewers to challenge to expand the notion of music & dance improvisation.

On Wednesday, July 20th, Dance Union: Music & Dance Improvisation presents Solo x

Solo. The evening will feature two pairs of music and dance improvisers' collaboration. The audience will experience how each pair merges its own piece into duo in the given 30 min time frame. Performers are Julia Mayer, dance & Christoph Erb, reeds (Lucerne, Switzerland); JulieAnn Graham & James Falzone, clarinet.

Solo x Solo takes place at the Hamlin Park Fieldhouse Theater, 3035 N Hoyne, Chicago, IL

60618 on Wednesday, July 20 at 7:30pm. Admission is $12 for general, $10 for students and

seniors and $20 for Tickets for Two. Tickets are available at the door or:

www.brownpapertickets.com/event/177641 (also through danceunion.tumblr.com )

Hamlin Park Fieldhouse Theater is located on Damen and Barry (two blocks south from Belmont

Ave.) CTA: Damen#50 Bus to Barry, or Belmont#77 Bus to Damen Ave.

Digital images, and complimentary admission for members of the press are available upon

request. Please contact: 312-330-4171/danceunion1@gmail.com

This series is the Chicago Moving Company Artists in Residence Project via Chicago Moving

Company's residence as Arts Partners (16th year) with the Chicago Park District at Hamlin Park.
