A View from the Bridge, Goodman Theatre, through Oct 15. Arthur Miller's tale of immigrants and family strife is ageless, but Ivo van Hove's lends it an opera verismo grandeur to resonating in full blood with first-time viewers of the American classic. MSB
Honeymoon in Vegas, Marriott Theatre, Lincolnshire, through Oct. 15. This jazzy 2015 musical featuring a score by Tony Award-winner Jason Robert Brown may not have lasted long on Broadway. But it's still plenty of wacky fun despite its problematic gender dynamics and potentially offensive depiction of minorities. SCM
The Rembrandt, Steppenwolf Theatre, through Nov. 5. Art endures, and so what better than a 17th—century masterpiece to remind us that life is short and we must make the most of what time we have ( but don't let the museum guards catch you pawing the paintings ). MSB
Trevor: The Musical, Writers Theatre, through Oct. 8. This world-premiere musical about a 13-year-old discovering he's gay is too ebullient for the subject matter ( although it never should be a tragedy ), but the production's joyous merits are indisputable. JA
