CHICAGO (June 21, 2021) - Chicago Sky guard Courtney Vandersloot was named as the WNBA's Eastern Conference Player of the Week, the league announced today.
This is the sixth time in Vandersloot's career, including the third in her last two seasons, where she has earned the honor. She is the first Sky player to pick up the weekly award this season.
Vandersloot and the Sky went a perfect 3-0 last week, picking up a victory on the road against the Minnesota Lynx on Tuesday, June 15 followed by consecutive home wins over the Connecticut Sun on June 17 and 19. In addition, Vandersloot recorded her 2,000th-career WNBA assist in the win over Minnesota.
The former Gonzaga Bulldog has posted three consecutive double-doubles, including an 18-point, 11-assist performance over Connecticut on June 19. She is just two double figure assist outings away from tying Ticha Penicheiro (64 games) for the most in league history.
Chicago begins its five-game road trip with a matchup against the New York Liberty tomorrow, June 22, at 6:00p CT. The Sky looks to pick up its third-ever six-game winning streak (May 30-July 13, 2012 & August 15-31, 2013 being the previous two) from the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, N.Y.
Voting for the WNBA All-Star Game ends this Sunday, June 27. Sky fans can vote here: www.wnba.com/players/ .
