Eric Elkinsa Chicago police sergeant who was under investigation and who had a history of sexual-abuse allegationshas retired, The Chicago Tribune reported.
Elkins was placed on desk duty in 2015, when four teen boys alleged he attempted to fondle them in Michigan. Elkins was eventually placed on probation.
In addition, Elkins was accused in a lawsuit of beating two men outside an Andersonville nightclub last September. Chicago police began a criminal investigation, but he has not been charged.
Windy City Times reported last year that gay couple John Sherwood and Tomasz Stacha are suing Elkins and Oak Park Police Department officer Dwayne Jones as well as Jeffrey Rodriguez and Giovanni Rodriguez after reportedly being attacked by the group at the nightspot @mosphere. Timothy J. Cavanaugh, the attorney for the couple, told Windy City Times that the next court appearance is slated for Feb. 7; the case is pending before Judge Patty Sheahan.
