Aladdin, Cadillac Palace Theatre, through Sept. 10. This national tour is a corporate Disney product, no doubt. But most audiences nostalgic for the blockbuster 1992 animated feature probably won't care since Aladdin delivers as a wowing, big-budget stage spectacle. SCM
The Elaborate Entrance of Chad Deity, Red Theater at Strawdog Theatre, through Sept. 16. There's still plenty of bash-crash-and-thrash, but the intimate arena permits a more contemplative approach to Kristoffer Diaz' indictment of wrestling and ethnophobia in America. MSB
Shock-Headed Peter, Black Button Eyes Productions at Athenaeum Theatre, through Sept. 16. Heinrich Hoffmann's cruel, deadly 1845 moral lessons for children are visually and musically stunning in this 65-minute production using masks, stilts, puppets, Grand Guignol and The Tiger Lillies' lilting, sarcastic songs. Kevin Webb scores as the crafty MC. Not for kids. JA
The Veil, Idle Muse Theatre Company at the Edge, through Sept. 17. Conor McPherson's goal may be difficult to grasp at times, but a muscular cast under Anne Kreitman's direction make for an intriguing evening. MSB
