CHICAGO, April 25, 2017 Chicago Gay Men's Chorus is about to awaken your inner teenage girl with our upcoming show *B-Town: From Barbershop to Boybands. With songs from Backstreet Boys, *NSYNC, New Kids on the Block, Boyz II Men and more, this show is not to be missed. But we're also taking you back through musical history to Motown with groups like The Temptations and The Jackson 5. Come escape to boyband heaven! *B-Town will run Friday, May 19 - 21, 2017 at three different venues around the Chicago area.
The show's script was written as a collaborative piece by three members of the chorus: Jason Sebacher, Richard McKinney and Joshua Foy. *B-Town follows a group of gay boys trying to make it big in the music scene. After only booking depressing mall gigs and working their way into the city to perform at Pride, they meet a smarmy manager who promises instant fame and success. The roller coaster ride begins as the boys try to find their sound and style culminating in an original boyband song!
*B-Town is directed by CGMC's Artistic Director James J. Morehead. "It was a show idea I conceived many years ago that is finally coming to fruition," said Morehead. "The music of our adolescence always has a special place in our hearts, no matter how cliche or played out it was at the time." Musically, audiences will be sure to hear at least one favorite with the set list bridging different generations with bands like The Beatles and The Beach Boys.
The night will be a whirlwind of music, dancing, singing, and celebration of these beloved songs. "This show will give you a wonderful escape and relief from anything occurring in the world or in life," said Morehead. "For two hours, you can laugh, sing along and relish in some fun and exciting songs that will surely bring back some fond memories." Get ready for these boys to tear up your heart and send good vibrations.

ABOUT CHICAGO GAY MEN'S CHORUS
The Chicago Gay Men's Chorus ( CGMC ) has been an integral part of Chicago's cultural and gay communities since 1983. For more than three decades, the chorus has entertained audiences across the continent with innovative musical programming exploring everything from love to politics to the sometimes fabulous, sometimes challenging world of being gay; often all at the same time. Our always-memorable performances have included original musical revues; full-length book musicals; traditional choral concerts and intimate cabaret presentations; all punctuated with our signature joyous irreverence.
Most recently, CGMC represented Chicago's LGBT community at Mayor Rahm Emanuel's second-term inauguration ceremony. The chorus proudly sang "America the Beautiful" for the Illinois Marriage Equality Act bill-signing ceremony and was the featured guest choral performer for the star-studded concert, Broadway Rocks, with the Grant Park Music Festival in 2011. Chicago Gay Men's Chorus was inducted into the Chicago Gay and Lesbian Hall of Fame in 2001 and currently has four cd-recordings available. CGMC has performed the National Anthem multiple times at world-famous Wrigley Field and for the WNBA Chicago Sky and Chicago's professional soccer team, Chicago Fire.
