In Chester, Pennsylvania, on Aug. 13, the Chicago Fire FC fell to the Philadelphia Union 4-1.

The away defeat snapped the Fire's five-game unbeaten run, including consecutive away wins, as the team moved three points below the Eastern Conference playoff line.

After the game, Fire head coach Ezra Hendrickson told the media, "What I told the players … is that we have to put this one behind us, and have had a good run of form. Tonight we just didn't show up, and when you don't show up in this league—especially against a team like that, first place in our conference—you know, you're going to pay."

Chicago will return home to face New York City FC on Sunday, Aug. 21, at SeatGeek Stadium. Beginning at 5 p.m. CT, the match will be televised on WGN-TV and CF97 Live, and transmitted locally in Spanish on TUDN 1200 AM.

—In Ohio, the Chicago Cubs (47-65) defeated the Cincinnati Reds (44-68) 7-2 on Aug. 13.

Ian Happ, Willson Contreras and Franmil Reyes all homered, ESPN noted.

The Cubs and Reds resumed their series in Cincinnati after playing in the "Field of Dreams" game in Dyersville, Iowa, on Aug. 11.

The teams play again Sunday, Aug. 14.

—At Guaranteed Rate Field, the Chicago White Sox (58-56) beat the Detroit Tigers (43-72) 6-4 on Aug. 13.

Andrew Vaughn had three hits for the White Sox, who moved within two-and-a-half games of AL Central leader Cleveland, according to ESPN.

Chicago improved to 42-17 against the Tigers since 2019.

The teams will clash again on Sunday, Aug. 14.
