CHICAGO (August 25, 2022) — Chicago Fire FC will host a volunteer event, alongside dish-liquid company Dawn® at the Greater Chicago Food Depository Club on Wed., Aug. 31, at the Greater Chicago Food Depository, 4100 W. Ann Lurie Pl. Club staff, supporters, and corporate partners will help package more than 30,000 donated meals for the local Chicago community. The event will also feature a special guest appearance from Chicago Fire defender Wyatt Omsberg.
Earlier this season, the Fire announced their partnership with Dawn's "Free Kicks for Free Meals" Initiative, in which Dawn® would donate 100 free meals for every free kick taken by Chicago Fire FC in the 2022 season, with all proceeds going directly to the Greater Chicago Food Depository. Since the start of the season the Fire has won 340 free kicks, with the initiative already contributing 34,000 meals to the Chicago community.
"We are thrilled to have this opportunity to continue our mission of giving back to the Chicagoland community," said Chicago Fire Foundation Executive Director,Jessica Yavitz. "Dawn and the Greater Chicago Food Depository have been fantastic partners as we share a common goal of supporting our local community. We are so grateful for their generosity and look forward to continuing this important work together."
The fight against food insecurity has also been a pillar of the Chicago Fire Supporter Group community, with Section 8 Chicago's "Fire for Food" drive raising money for the past five years to provide meals to Chicagoans through the Greater Chicago Food Depository.
