The Chicago Dragons Rugby Football Club will host its second annual Rugby 101, an introduction to the game, on Aug. 13 at 10 a.m. at Warren Park, 6601 N. Western. The program will run through the afternoon and lunch will be provided.
The clinic is open to players of all skill levels and will provide an opportunity to learn about this sport. The day will feature indoor and outdoor sessions with drills; live scrimmage ( weather permitting ) ; videos; and lecture. Attendees should bring a shirt; shorts; and sneakers or cleats.
Rugby 101 is the kickoff to the team's fall season. There are eight games set against local teams as well as two potential away games against teams in Phoenix and New York City. The club is the only predominantly gay team in the Midwest and is a member of the International Gay Rugby Association and Board.
