Cher, Mariah Carey among Rock & Roll Hall of Fame nominees

On Feb. 10, the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame announced the nominees for its 2024 class.

According to NPR, two-thirds of the artists on the list for "rock's highest honor" are first time nominees, and many are women. Mariah Carey, Cher, the late Sinead O'Connor, and Sade made the Hall of Fame's inductee shortlist for the first time, while Mary J. Blige made a reappearance.

Other nominees for 2024 include Dave Matthews Band, Eric B. & Rakim, Foreigner, Peter Frampton, Jane's Addiction, Kool & the Gang, Lenny Kravitz, Oasis, Ozzy Osbourne and A Tribe Called Quest.

On the Kelly Clarkson Show last December, Cher expressed outrage at being shut out of the Hall of Fame for so long. "You know what? I wouldn't be in it now if they paid me a million dollars," Cher said. "I'm not kidding you."

The newest inductees will be announced in April. The 2024 induction ceremony is slated to take place in the fall in Cleveland, Ohio, the Hall of Fame's home.
