FamilyQ is an LGBTQ-led volunteer effort to support nonprofit organizations and social-justice groups by donating more than 100,000 disposable face masks.
Proceeds help provide resources to overlooked and underresourced communities. According to Kevin Hauswirth (a former Windy City Times 30 Under 30 honoree), his team at H/Co's apartments became distribution hubs and were able to help donate more than 100,000 masks to social-justice and community organizations and LGBTQ causes across the city, including Howard Brown Health, the Brave Space Alliance, SaveMoneySaveLives, TPAN, Casa Central, Chicago House, Health Hood, NYC-based health center Callen-Lorde and more.
FamilyQ is now selling boxes of multi-colored, disposable face masksand small impact groups can request free masks. Each purchase helps the organization spread more free PPE throughout its extended family tree.
Among those who have helped Family Q are celebrity chef Art Smith, trans activist Geena Rocero, drag personality Nina West and fashion exec Randy Cousin, Hauswirth stated. See FamilyQ.org or www.instagram.com/familyq_global/ . |
