CHICAGO, February 15, 2022 — Chicago Gay Men's Chorus presents Lipstick & Lyrics: Untucked, an annual live-singing drag extravaganza running February 26, 2022 and March 4-5, 2022, 8pm and 10pm shows each night, at the Annoyance Theatre & Bar, 851 W Belmont Ave, Chicago, IL 60657. A small group of CGMC drag performers are ready to show you everything they have got! Tucked or untucked (they won't tell!) this stellar cast is letting all of their talents hang out. Join 16 drag performers and eight dancers as they bare it all…well, not everything. Untucked does not refer to the usual drag costuming practice. CGMC Artistic Director James Morehead said, "It's more about letting go and letting it all hang out, showing off our very best." Several of the performers have delighted audiences in the past with their wild and wonderful performances. This year CGMC welcomes two new drag queens who are performing in drag for the first time.
This year's 22 musical numbers are vast and varied, with a wide array of genres and a much looser theme than usual. Guests can expect a few show tunes (including Don't Rain On My Parade), current pop music, some standards and a little country. "There's a fun Evil Woman number and lots of dancing," said Morehead. "The queens even wrote the rap section for it themselves…it's gonna rock!"
Chicago Gay Men's Chorus is currently rehearsing and performing in-person with COVID restrictions and the safety of their audience and members in mind. Guests attending the show must provide proof of full vaccination and wear a mask inside the venue. The performers will not be masked. Morehead expressed, "In-person rehearsals and performances are so much better and easier than editing video files!" It is certainly a welcomed return to some sort of normalcy.
The organization and performers are looking forward to the upcoming performances. "You never want to miss an opportunity to see these queens and kings in action. Truly full of showstoppers!" expressed Morehead.
