Thousands of fanboys and fangirls descended upon McCormick Place April 13-15, the site of the Chicago Comic & Entertainment Expo (C2E2).
Among the many events were items ranging from Quidditch matches (from Harry Potter) to workshops to artist alleys to autograph sessions. Among said workshops were "The Geek Girl and the Artist," "Steampunk as a Culture" and "Disability in Comics" and "Superhero Training."
Dozens of entertainment guests were featured, including out gay actor John Barrowman (Doctor Who; Torchwood), Shane West (Nikita), Lauren Cohan (The Walking Dead), Val Kilmer (The Doors), bisexual actor Ryan Buell (Paranormal State), John Cusack (The Raven) and Sean Astin (The Lord of the Rings).
Also, there were hundreds of boothswith one being occupied by Prism Comics, a nonprofit organization that supports LGBT creators, stories, characters and readers in the comics industry. Text by Andrew Davis; photos by Davis and Jerry Nunn
