CHICAGO Lynn Sage Cancer Research Foundation (LSCRF) announces model, movie star, TV actress, Broadway performer and bestselling author Brooke Shields as the newly named Guest Speaker at its Annual Fall Benefit Luncheon on Oct. 17 at 11 a.m. at the Hilton Chicago, 720 South Michigan Ave. (Diane Keaton, who was originally scheduled, cancelled due to a new movie commitment).
Proceeds will support innovative contributions to breast cancer research and educational programs, as well as fellowships, at Northwestern Memorial Hospital and the Robert H. Lurie Comprehensive Cancer Center of Northwestern University.
In addition to being the ultimate multi-hyphenate, Brooke Shields has won two Golden Globe nominations and five People's Choice Awards. She also is a wife and mother and like most today, is trying to find balance while juggling her busy personal and professional life. The former child-star has been through her share of ups and downs and has found that her resilience and perseverance have powered her through some of life's most challenging times. Some people say adversity builds character, but Shields feels adversity reveals character. She has learned to take the best, get rid of the rest, and move on. She is truly an inspirational voice of our time.
LSCRF, Chicago's breast cancer organization, also will "Light The City Pink," turning Chicago's skyline pink to raise awareness throughout the month of October.

About the Lynn Sage Cancer Research Foundation (LSCRF)
In 1985, the Lynn Sage Cancer Research Foundation was founded in memory of Lynn Sage, who died of breast cancer at the age of 39. Lynn's ability to endure a six-year struggle with her spirit and dignity intact inspired 18 family members and close friends to establish a foundation to help others battling breast cancer. In the last 27 years, the Foundation has raised more than $25 million, and the original group of 18 has grown to 106 members serving on three boards.
LSCRF supports the innovations that contribute to the understanding and research of breast cancer. LSCRF works in partnership with Northwestern Memorial Hospital, Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine and the Robert H. Lurie Comprehensive Cancer Center of Northwestern University to benefit women today and in the future.
