CHICAGOMarch 21, 2018 Students organizing the Chicago "March For Our Lies" event on March 24th today announced programming and media logistics information for the march and rally at Union Park. The march is one of over 800 "sibling marches" happening around the country planned by students and survivors of gun violence in communities big and small in all 50 states and globally. The national day of action will focus on calling for lawmakers to make students' lives and safety a priority and to pass common-sense gun safety legislation.
"The March is a beginning step. We want to educate and inform as many people as possible about the change needed to stop the slaughter of our students and people in schools, churches, movie theaters, elementary schools, concerts, clubs, and the list goes on. The March will allow us to bring attention to the unjust equities in how gun violence is treated in America and the need to help the entire communities who are experiencing trauma from gun violence. The March will show that it is time for a change—and student voices are leading this movement." Marley Rosario, student organizer of March for Our Lives Chicago
