Bond has been set at $350,000 for a woman who stands accused of murdering the partner she lived with.
Lisa Gunderson, 25, has been charged with the Aug. 26, 2006, murder of Barbara Wolf, 50. The two shared an apartment at 5415 N. Sheridan, and lived with Gunderson's infant child.
According to Cook County State's Attorney's Office spokeswoman Tandra Simonton, Wolf, who had started dating a man who lived in the building, was planning to part ways with Gunderson. Up to the day of the incident, people witnessed a relationship that was becoming increasingly volatile. On Aug. 26, Gunderson and Wolf engaged in a quarrel that resulted with Wolf falling and hitting her head on a dresser. Then, Gunderson allegedly put a blanket on the victim's head and suffocated her.
Gunderson then allegedly attempted to retrieve Wolf's car out of the building's garage, but attendants would not let her, saying they received a note from Wolf preventing Gunderson from using the vehicle. Then, Gunderson reportedly offered to have sex with an attendant in exchange for access to the car. She was then escorted back to her apartment by security, but she refused to let anyone else in. Later, the garage attendants received a call from someone claiming to be Wolf and permitting Gunderson to use the car.
Gunderson then used Wolf's ATM card to withdraw money and drove to Kenosha, Wis. She was arrested that evening on a DUI charge.
Aug. 27 was Wolf's birthday, and several people called her to wish her well. Concerned individuals then contacted building security, who conducted a well-being check on Aug. 28. Wolf's bloody body was found; officials estimated that she had died 24-36 hours before the discovery, Simonton said.
The following month, Gunderson was arrested again in Wisconsin, and authorities found Wolf's ATM card in her possession. Gunderson admitted that she and Wolf fought and that the victim hit her head; however, she added that she offered Wolf a blanket because she was cold.
The next court date is set for June 20 at 26th and California.
