Brandon Hagel pushed his point streak to five straight games with a third-period goal to tie it 1-1, his fourth in the last four games. Marc-Andre Fleury made a season-high 46 stopsone off a career mark for a single game.
However, Matt Grzelcyk scored at 1:40 of overtime to secure the win for Boston.
Chicago next heads to Minnesota for an afternoon match against the Wild on Saturday, March 19, at 1 p.m.
According to ESPN, the Blackhawks have agreed to a three-year contract with defenseman Alex Vlasic, who was the team's second-round pick in the 2019 draft.
The Blackhawks announced the entry-level deal March 15. It runs through the 2023-24 season and carries a salary-cap hit of $824,167.
The 6-foot-6 Vlasic, who is from the Chicago suburbs, is scheduled to join the team Thursday, March 17.
