On Feb. 20 at the United Center, the Chicago Blackhawks (18-26-8) suffered yet another lossthis time to the powerhouse Florida Panthers (35-10-5) by a score of 5-2.
It was the first meeting of the season with the Blackhawks' south Florida opponents.
Blackhawks players Patrick Kane and Caleb Jones each scored in the loss, while Marc-Andre Fleury made 20 stops. Kane took sole possession of second all-time in franchise assists with his 720th career helper on the Caleb Jones tally in the third, passing Denis Savard's 719; only Stan Mikita has more assists in Blackhawks history, with 926.
Chicago won't play again until Friday, Feb. 25. The team will host the New Jersey Devils.
Chicago Bulls players DeMar DeRozan and Zach LaVine took part in the NBA's All-Star weekend.
During the All-Star Game in Cleveland, Team LeBron topped Team Durant in a 163-160 scorefest. LeBron James scored on a one-legged turnaround jumper to clinch the victory, while MVP Stephen Curry hit 16 three-pointers (out of 27 attempts) on his way to scoring 50 points.
"Yeah, I told [James[ on the court after the game it was kind of a perfect ending," said Curry, per ESPN. "I was chasing that extra two or three points. I think DeMar [DeRozan] hit a big shot, and then [James] came out and hit the game winner."
As a sign of how fast and loose things go during this annual game, Team LeBron only attempted two free throws (with DeRozan making both); Team Durant attempted seven, making all of them.
LaVine scored 12 points for Team Durant while DeRozan (who started) had 10 for Team LeBron.
