The Black Arts & Culture Alliance will present the 23rd Annual Black Excellence Awards on Monday, Nov. 6, at 7 p.m. at the Black Ensemble Theater, 4450 N. Clark St.
Hosted by Melissa Duprey, this year's Black Excellence Awards will include the inaugural Black Arts Hall of Fame inductees.
Performers are slated to include avery r. young—Chicago's poet laureate and a 2023 inductee into the Chicago LGBT Hall of Fame. Other performers will include Sam Thousand and The Soul Vortex, Forward Momentum Chicago, Perceptions Theatre and DJ Rae Chardonnay, who is also part of the LGBTQ+ community. Special recognition will be given to young, DCASE Commissioner Erin Harkey and Black Theatre Alliance Awards' Vincent E. Williams.
