Beyonce supports out singer; singer to pay Maddow's legal fees

Beyonce has penned a poem to show her support of newly out singer Frank Ocean, according to the Huffington Post. The poem—superimposed over a photo of Ocean on her website—reads, "Be fearless. Be honest. Be generous. Be brave. Be poetic. Be open. Be free. Be yourself. Be in love. Be happy. Be inspiration." Ocean wrote the song "I Miss You" from Beyonce's most recent album, 4.

Speaking of Ocean, Atlanta rapper Lil Scrappy has also expressed support for the singer—but has also courted controversy with a comment linking gay people to the spread of AIDS, according to BET.com . Scrappy told TMZ that more people should accept gay people but added that gay men should come out "so all the real women that love to mess with real men, straight men, we can keep the AIDS situation down." When asked if he was implying that all gay men have AIDS, Scrappy said no.

Christian rocker Bradlee Dean, who filed a $50-million defamation lawsuit against Rachel Maddow, was ordered to pay the lesbian MSNBC personality's legal fees, according to the Huffington Post. Last year Dean sued Maddow, claiming she mischaracterized his views on gay rights and Sharia law. Dean said that Maddow omitted a line from his statement, in which the Christian rocker said he was against the killing of gay people; Maddow, however, read the line. Dean was ordered to pay $24,625.23.

Out singer Adam Lambert kicked off his highly anticipated mini-tour with Queen, fronting the band at Independence Square in Kiev, Ukraine, according to Rolling Stone. They performed a two-hour set in the Euro 2012 fan zone as part of joint concert with Elton John to benefit the Elena Pinchuk ANTIAIDS Foundation. Lambert first performed with Queen as a contestant on American Idol, later joining the band for several songs at the 2011 MTV European Music Awards.

More Lambert news: He may return to American Idol—as a judge. According to the New York Post, Lambert is on the short list of names being considered for a new judges' table next season, and may replace current judge Randy Jackson. "Our challenge for next year is to put some fresh energy in," News Corp. COO Chase Carey told Wall Street analysts in May. Miley Cyrus, Katy Perry, Fergie and Nicki Minaj are also in the mix, according to E!

Actor Brad Pitt may support marriage equality, but his mother apparently does not, according to USA Today. Jane Pitt wrote a letter to her hometown newspaper in Missouri, saying GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney deserves "Christian" votes because he's against abortion and shares "Christian conviction concerning homosexuality." She also called President Obama "a liberal who supports the killing of unborn babies and same-sex marriage."

A vital-records office in North Carolina revealed that legendary actor Andy Griffith died of a heart attack July 3, according to US Magazine. Griffith, 86, was known for his roles on The Andy Griffith Show and Matlock, among other TV shows and movies.

Cher has courted more controversy through Twitter after posting her support for famed pastor Joel Osteen, who has said homosexuality is a sin, Pink News reported. After buying one of Osteen's books, the singer-actress tweeted, "I love Joel Osteen, he's example of Christian!He makes Every1 feel welcome 2 his church no matter who they R!" A follower replied, "Umm… not everyone. He's pretty uncool about gays." Cher then posted, "But IM NOT! Proved this my WHOLE LIFE! We have a BOND!"

Almost a decade after Destiny's Child's last full-length studio effort, Destiny Fulfilled, Mathew Knowles—Beyonce's father and the group's longtime ringleader—has revealed that previously unreleased material from the group will appear on two compilation releases via his Music World Entertainment label partnership with Sony, according to MTV.com . Regarding a possible reunion tour, Knowles told the Huffington Post, "It takes a year of planning to do these tours, but first it starts with the artist wanting to do it. ... I hope in the next five years that there is a reunion tour. I think it would be incredible."

Adele's CD 21 is the best-selling album so far in 2012, MTV.com reported. Through the sales week ending on July 1, Nielsen SoundScan reports that the disc has sold 3.69 million copies, making it the only disc this year that has sold more than 1 million. In second place is Lionel Richie's country-duets album, Tuskegee (912,000 units sold), followed by One Direction's Up All Night (899,000), a greatest-hits collection from Whitney Houston (818,000) and the NOW 41 hits compilation (714,000).

Jennifer Lopez is developing an hour-long drama for ABC Family about a lesbian couple, according to Deadline.com . The couple is the series (untitled so far) already has a household with plenty of children—and there's more drama when a teenage girl moves in with them. One of the mothers is a cop, while the other is a private school teacher. Peter Paige (who co-starred on Queer As Folk) and Brad Bredeweg, the creators and writers of the show, will also executive-produce.

Kelly Osbourne had a very bad experience on a recent Delta Airlines flight—complete with a black eye, according to US Magazine. Osbourne, 27, tweeted what transpired from her flight, in which the passenger sitting in front of her apparently knocked her in the forehead after suddenly reclining her seat. The assh—- in front of me almost knocked me out putting her seat back Might get a black eye," Osbourne posted. "I'm going to kick her seat all the way to LA."

Glee creator Ryan Murphy married longtime beau David Miller on the beach in Provincetown, Mass., according to Boston.com . Murphy and Miller, who've been together for more than 15 years, married on the Fourth of July. The couple celebrated the big event by going to see Patti Lupone's sold-out show at the Art House.

Grey's Anatomy co-star and LGBT ally Sara Ramirez is a married woman, SheWired.com noted. Ramirez tied the knot with Ryan Debolt on the Fourth of July. Ramirez has played bisexual doctor Callie Torres on Grey's since 2006.

Nina Arianda—who recently won a Tony for best actress in the play Venus In Fur—will make her screen debut playing '60s music icon Janis Joplin, according to Deadline.com . The film Joplin will look on the final six months of the singer's life, with flashbacks to her early career. Sean Durkin—who won raves for his debut feature, Martha Marcy May Marlene—will direct.

Talent manager Stephen Hanks is again suing Bristol Palin over her reality-TV show, according to Deadline.com . Hanks filed a new lawsuit for defamation and invasion of privacy June 28. (He'd filed earlier this month seeking $75,000 against Palin and Lifetime.) Palin called Hanks a "homosexual" on her show Life's A Tripp after he heckled her over her mother's politics; Hanks later claimed he was filmed without permission, and has said he has "suffered harm to his profession and occupation, and expended money as a result of the statements."

Women's soccer star and former Dancing with the Stars competitor Hope Solo has received a public warning after testing positive for a banned substance, according to SheWired.com . A test found the diuretic Canrenone in Solo's system. In a statement, she said, ""I took a medication prescribed by my personal doctor for pre-menstrual purposes that I did not know contained a diuretic."

San Diego LGBT Pride has announced the addition of Alex Newell, who plays Unique/Wade, a transgender character on the show Glee, according to a press release. Actress/comedian Sandra Bernhard and singers Wynter Gordon and Natasha Bedingfield are among other celebrities participating in the July 20-22 event.

Jeanne Cooper—who has played matriarch Katherine Chancellor on the daytime serial The Young & the Restless for almost four decades—is out with a new memoir entitled Not Young, Still Restless, according to the New York Post. In the book (which the publication describes as "rollicking"), Cooper—the mother of actor Corbin Bernsen—talks about everything from her alcoholism to her affair with Beau Kazer, who played her TV son Brock.

Lesbian celebrity chef Cat Cora was cited for driving under the influence after a minor traffic accident in her hometown of Santa Barbara, Calif., according to MSNBC.com . She is scheduled to be arraigned July 26, and is being charged with one count of DUI and one count of driving with a blood-alcohol level of .08 or higher. Cora—co-host of the Bravo show Around the World in 80 Plates—has four children with longtime partner Jennifer Cora.

Notoriously press and camera-shy, openly gay Hollywood mogul David Geffen reveals himself for the first time in the new two-hour documentary American Masters Inventing David Geffen, which premieres nationally Tuesday, Nov. 20, at 8 p.m. ET on PBS, according to a press release. Two-time Emmy-winning filmmaker and executive producer Susan Lacy reportedly "paints an unflinching portrait of Geffen," who narrates his rise from working-class Brooklyn boy to billionaire entertainment power broker in a series of interviews.

In his book, Mick: The Wild Life and Mad Genius of Jagger, Christopher Andersen talks at one point about a supposed affair between rock icons Mick Jagger and David Bowie, according to the New York Daily News. "Where Jagger was still coy about his own sexual preferences, Bowie made no effort to conceal the fact that both he and his wife were bisexual and often shared partners," the book says. Further on, the book states that Bowie's wife, Angie, discovered Jagger and Bowie in bed together, with Bowie simply asking, "Oh, hello. How are you?" Jagger also reportedly was found in bed with rocker Eric Clapton.
