Ashwaty Chennat, a Chicago Dancemakers 2021 Digital Dance grantee, has continued her collaboration with Abhijeet Rane to explore gender, queerness and the body in South Asian arts and traditions.

An excerpt of Chennai and Rane's Moods of Nayika will premiere during the Aug. 12 online showcase "Narratives/Visibilities."

Other works during the event include works by Yoshinojo Fujima aka Rika Lin, in collaboration with Subhash Maskara, Hekiun Oda, Matsuya Nozawa, and Toyoaki Sanjuro; and Zachary Nicol.

This event is the third of six events in this series. Ten Chicago artists and their collaborators premiere new works through Chicago Dancemakers Forum's 2021 Digital Dance Grants program. These local dancemakers and their projects, created during the first half of 2021, reflect a spirit of collaboration, experimentation and artistic exploration in using digital technologies during the era of COVID.

More about the Aug. 12 free virtual event is at www.eventbrite.com/e/2021-digital-dance-showcase-narrativesvisibilities-tickets-155837192237.
